Lesson #6: Get the Data.

Lesson #7: Belief and seeing are both often wrong.

1)      The most intriguing part of the film is when they said that they were about to go to nuclear war, and they were weighting the pros and cons of the outcome. Even with so many dead and towns devastated and the after math of all the bombings they would still consider themselves winners…

2)      Lesson #1, Lesson #2, Lesson #4, Lesson #7, Lesson #9, Lesson #10, Lesson #11 were all astonishing to me cause they are all so related to real life. The others were good but not to interesting, some of the ones I have chosen are very, very true statements and give a reason to something’s in life. #4, #10, #11, #9 I believe are the ones that are going to have the biggest impact on the 21st century and that they will be remember for even longer than that.

3)         I think the lesson "you cant change human nature" was most interesting to me. Most of these lessons seem very realistic, this being one of them. This is interesting to me because there it is very true, humans have a certain mind set that no matter how hard you try once something  is set in their head it is almost impossible to change.

Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara is a 2003 American documentary film about the life and times of the U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert S McNamar. It also illustrates his observations of the nature of modern warfare. The film was directed by Errol Morris had the title of the “Fog War” the title is related to a military phrase describing the difficulty of making decisions in the midst of conflict.

A devistating event happend yesterday in Oklahomam, a tornado ravaged through the suburban streets and also demolished a school.. Briarwood and Plaza Towers elementary schools in Moore were destroyed by winds as high as 320 km/h. Initial reports that the storm had killed 51 people were changed to 24 on Tuesday morning. 7 of the 42 were reported to be children.  President Barack Obama assured the country that Oklahoma would receive federal emergency aid to help with the recovery. 3 people are still missing; everyone else though has been identified and reunited with their family.

I think this tornado was absaloutly terrible, considering it hit an elemetry school;  and seven children were killed. I am sure that the rest of the children in those schools will never forget this. I think it is really too bad that no one could have predicted this better. It is really t bad that those children were sent to school. Something that concerns me is that how they can estimate 51 deaths or something and then it changed dramaticly in such a short amount of time.

B.C. had a vote yesterday and the results came out almost the complete opposite of what the pollsters had predicted. The pollsters said that the NDP was going to win in a landslide over anyone else. But when only 52% of B.C.’s population voted the Liberals won by a lot for the fourth time! Also another thing, why must we sign our vote in pencil and not pen? Are they riging the votes erasing out votes? I can’t exactly say why people did not vote yesterday, considering people should be concerned about our province’s future. Maybe it’s because they are too shy, or just not too interested in looking at each party’s offerings and mottos. Not knowing who you are going to vote for is a huge dilemma, when almost half the population doesn’t know or is too lazy. In Australia there is a fine if you do not vote, I think that should be lawed here in B.C. if that is what needs to be done for the votes to be put through fairly. Some party’s might have had a better chance if the other 48% voted! If my birthday was sooner, I would have voted for the NDP. Looking at their interests and promises they had the best political stand point, but no one voted. Who knows who the other 48% would have voted for? I also can’t say why the pollsters were so wrong, they technically can’t predict anything considering you can only vote on one day and anyone’s opinion can change on a drop of a dime.

The recent tragic event of the bombing in Boston was absolutely devastating. Two men, not very old went out and bombed a major public open event. There is minimal security at the event and there are thousands and thousands of people. The scary thing is, there were children at this event, and some were killed along with women, and men. Hundreds were injured from shrapnel flying up to 4 blocks away. This was so disturbing because two people had the mind set to go to a family, public, world event that had thousands of innocent people there to run a marathon and thousands more  just to be there to encourage their runner. Children were supporting and cheering on their parents, relatives, and friends when suddenly bombs were detonated in two different locations. This was not linked as an Alkida attack, but even so this was a very huge upset for not only the US but for people all over the world. Lives were lost; hundreds were saved thanks to caring people of Boston helping out the injured and hospitals taking in anyone who needed any medical attention. Without the good people of Boston and some of the runners, more lives may have been lost. This was such a saddened moment on a huge happy event, and it shocked the people all over the world making them think twice about doing anything to do with leaving the safety of their homes. Knowing there are people that have the will power to bomb women, children, and men for no reason is just astonishing.

Margaret Thatcher was a dominant, divisive and yet revered figure in British politics whose impact on British life and society was enduring and contentious, died on Monday of a stroke at the age of 87. Politicians called her influence on her country’s destiny among the greatest since Winston Churchill, and the authorities said she would be buried with military honors. Margaret Thatcher, one of the most important British politicians of the 20th century, died Monday morning after suffering a stroke. Thatcher was the first woman to become U.K. prime minister and Britain's only prime minister of the 20th century to win three consecutive terms. After leading the Conservatives to victory in the 1979 election, Thatcher shook Britain to its economic roots in a relentless battle to restructure the country. Richard Longworth of the Chicago Tribune described Thatcher in 1989 as "perhaps the most admired, hated, fascinating, boring, radical and conservative leader in the Western world." The next year she would be forced from office by her own party. A Soviet journalist called her the "Iron Lady", a nickname which became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.

Margaret Thatcher was a great politican and fullfilled her duties accordingly. Without her there wouldnt have been much hope for women politicians I think. She set a high standard for women and men who are going to be stepping into her position in parliment. She was nicknamed "The Iron Lady" for her strong minded uncomprimising style, she was a very stubborn leader. Margaret was also known for being the following admired, fascinating, hated, conservitave, etc. leader  to ever lead the Conservitave party.

The Palawan reef off of the western Phillippenes was disruptered and smashed by a U.S. Navy ship "The USS Gaurdian". The ship crashed into the reef "unknowing" where the  reef was and now owe 1.5 million to the country for wrecking the national park. The Navy has agreed to do so, and remove the ship from the shallow reef, also repair and restore the reef as much as possible.

I don't get how this could even happen considering all the technology that was on the ship. The captins are experianced and know what they are doing but somehow manage to crash and get their ship stuck on a national park. At least they have agreed to restore as much as possible and pay off the damage. I am just amazed on how they could do such a thing without even knowing where the re

North Korea has made numerous threats towards the United States latley in a bunch of video brodcasts. They have been saying they want to kill the United States and Nuke them. With all these threats the U.S. has put a small fleet into South Korea so that they are able to condone any behaviour. People have said that they might be being told to do all this by a bigger country such as china!

I dont think that much of the whole ideal considering that their artilary is terribly and not very special and would be shot down within minutes of being launched. Unless.. They have a secret artilary hidden and are displaying the old missiles bluffing that they do not have upgraded artilary.

Nigerian Ansaru troops kidnapped 7 construction workers from all over Europe and held them hostage for several days.  They have made several world threatening moves such as, an attack on a police station, kidnapped a French engineer, another attack on a convoy of Nigerian troops heading to Mali, and then the most recent one kidnapping the 7 foreign construction workers. The post on a website by the Ansaru states that they had killed the hostages due to a failed attempt by Britain troops to seize and rescue the hostages. (The Ansaru are an Islamist group, forming and trying to get ransom for taking and killing hostages.)

The story is very interesting, yet disgusting considering they are kidnapping so many people and killing them wand getting away with it. The Islamist group Ansaru is a branched Alkaldi group who are taking innocent foreign hostages and making demands, and trying to make an impact. I don’t know why someone hasn’t stepped in yet to try to put an end to this group’s treachery.

A woman in the UK named Nicola Edgington was founded for murder, after trying to get help for her mental condition. She had called the police and hospitals multiple times attempting to get help because she was “hearing voices” and the police didn’t do anything much towards the idea. They didn’t follow up all the calls with a routine check on Nicola, also failed to do a check on her records for previous crimes.  She had killed her own mother in 2005, with the police not checking on her records after getting a call telling them that she was having a mental break down and telling them that she was going to kill somebody.  It is scary to think that the police and the hospitals could do so much to restrain her under the law considering she was a mental patient; but failed to do so and let her walk out of the hospital to go and kill somebody. A life could have been spared maybe if they would have restrained Nicola but they failed to do their job and she went on to kill somebody and flee the scene.

Australia busted and seized over 500kg of Meth, that was being shipped from China to Australia. The street value of this seizure is roughly around half a billion dollars. Knowing that this insanely large amount of drugs are now in the hands of the police is a good thing to know. Three people so far have been caught and arrested, and will be appearing in court in Sydney soon. This shipment was stowed away with other chemicals, hidden but thanks to a phone call from the community the cops were able to capture and seize the drugs before they could be dispersed around Australia. This story is very interesting because they were able to trace storage locker use and one tip about the shipment, the police were able to make a move on this
